Canyon Lake is a large dammed section of the Guadalupe River that is about a 20-30 minute drive from New Braunfels. Corp of Engineers lake covers 8,240 acres that includes 80 miles of shoreline. Given the topography of the hill country, there are numerous canyon lake homes for sale that have breathtaking views. Canyon Lake is not constant level lake however during the recent droughts the lake levels did not fluctuate as much as most other Texas lakes (EX: Lake Travis, Medina Lake, etc.). Plus there is much less boat traffic than Lake LBJ and Lake Austin. Since this is a Corp of Engineers lake they do not allow homeowners to improve their waterfront with things like docks or boat houses, however this makes Canyon Lake one of the prettiest shorelines in all of Texas. Plus there are numerous boat ramps and marinas around the lake.
